In A Heartbeat (Shameful Regret #1) by Liz King

In A Heartbeat (Shameful Regret #1) - Liz King

For the past eight years I haven't been living, just ... Existing.

The pain, the guilt, and the shame I carry have been locked away deep inside me for so long that it's impenetrable, until him. Until Connor Reeves.

With a sexy smile and seductive eyes, the bad boy rocker walked right into my life without warning, and now the walls I built that hid all of my grief for so long are now crumbling at my feet.

Now I am left wondering if it's possible that just as life can cause pain, it can also heal wounds in a heartbeat.

Lynae (Nae-Nae by her closest friends) went through a heartbreaking horrific ordeal at the ripe age of fourteen, which is pretty much divulged from page 1..She doesn't tell a soul..She seems to think what happened to her was all her fault, that is not the case..

Then we're brought up to date (8 years have gone by) Lynae is now 23 and is a registered nurse, she doesn't date and shy's away from any sort of social life..

It's Friday night so she's got an idea that her two friends are going to try and talk her into going out on the town dancing and a new band her friends want to go check out..Being in crowds or dark enclosed spaces tend to make her feel uncomfortable..Something she has never been able to get over..But just to keep her girls happy she agrees..

At the club she feels a buzz creep over her shoulders and opens her eyes, across the room her eyes lock onto a pair of green eyes that leave her feeling like they could burn a hole right into her, his eyes are piercing..

Her friend notices Mr Brooding staring our way, "Holy sex on a stick!! He is fucking gorgeous!! He is totally eye fucking you Nae-Nae!" "He's probably not even looking at me Lynae", says..

The stage is getting set up, her best friends are so excited to hear "Shameful Regret" play, they crowd round the nearest table, with drinks in hand waiting for the moment when the band come up on stage, Lynae just wants the night to be over so grabs  her phone to send a text to her other best friend who is like a brother to her, she's so engrossed in her phone that she doesn't notice when "Shameful Regret" takes the stage..

The voice that comes over the speakers is deep and resonating and magnetic, it seems to pull her in, her heart beats hard and fast in her chest as her stare lands on no other than "Dark and Brooding" who captivated her earlier..

He's looking right at her with his lips seemingly caressing the microphone..His voice is amazing!!

"I'm Connor, Connor Reeves, thanks for coming out to see the band tonight."

This is where it all happens without divulging too much about the story, it's not smooth sailing but I will say that you'll have moments where you'll be swooning over Conner, he just seemed perfect for Lynae, he knew just what to say and when to keep his distance, it's a tough road he's going down to make Lynae trust and feel comfortable around him..And I will admit there were moments where I wanted to shake Lynae..

This book could've gone towards the dark side with what she had to endure but it was nicely written..Definitely will be keeping an eye out for book 2..

I was given an arc by the author in exchange for an honest review, so here I am being honest, I looked at the cover, read the blurb and said to myself NO! NO! NO!

This is going to be utter torture, why? your sitting there asking yourself..

Because this isn't what I would normally read, I love my dark, gritty books full of angst..

Ok so getting over that small hurdle I sat down on the couch with the book on my kindle and started reading, I looked up at the clock and sighed that an hour had gone by and I had to get up and do my chores for the day, that hour went so damn fast!! And like a headless chook I ran round doing my chores as fast as I could so that I could get back to that couch and this book and I kept reading and reading and reading!!

God I don't know where to start, but I will say that when I first came across that arrogant Doctor Brad Markson I wanted to jump in the book and bitch slap him since
Nurse Chloe Bennett didn't but after calming down and getting lost in the book he starts to grow on you, you just need to breathe through him being a ass about 20% in you have those awwwww moments about him!!

Now in my mind he's Mc Dreamy off Greys Anatomy!! So I'm just going to run with that..

I had all these passages out of the book saved to put on my review but then sitting here thinking about it if I do that I think it kind of takes it away from what's zooming through my head..

This book wasn't just your normal boring romance which would've pushed me over the edge, so thank you Lisa Eugene (Author) for making this better than the norm, I really enjoyed this book!! And will even go so far as to say that I will definitely read something else from this author..

I hope my rambling did this book justice..

Battlescars by Ann Collins

Battlescars - Ann Collins

Battle-hardened and bearing scars from the combat he’s seen, Dyson has been discharged from the Marines under less-than-ideal circumstances. He’s moved back home and is focused on training for an MMA fight he hopes will kick start his career. He’s disciplined, focused, and has no time or energy for a meaningful relationship.

When Dyson meets twenty-year-old Kayla in his neighborhood bar, he thinks she would be a gorgeous addition to the string of women with whom he has enjoyed one-night stands. The tall, dark and sexy blue-eyed Dyson is determined to have her. Immune to his charms, Kayla wants nothing to do with him. She’s far too busy trying to recover from the pain of her childhood to let a cocky man like Dyson trample on her heart. She knows she’s damaged and is working hard to build a life for herself, free of her terrible memories.

But fate seems to have other plans…

Will Dyson and Kayla be able to heal the hurts in their past and move forward in spite of their scars? Will they recognize a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and be brave enough to take a chance on love?

So those of you who know me, know me as a cover hoe, this cover was no exception and gets my tick of approval, then I read the blurb about the battle scarred ex Marine, MMA fighter and I was like oh "hell yes" I have to read this!!

A broken girl whose been in foster care and a man who stood up for what he believed in, a story of love, and mending and a story of learning to trust..

So first off we meet Dyson who has been discharged from the Marines, his neighborhood bar is one of Dyson;'s most frequented places, but this night in particular he especially liked the mirror, because at that precise moment the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen had just walked in, he was half way drunk but he reckoned she would've been a ten on the score card any ways if he was stone cold sober..

Two guys approach this woman and try to make a play for her, even with her shaking off the men's unwanted advances they just weren't getting the message, so Dyson to the rescue, which he seemed to defuse the situation effortlessly..After a bit of chit chat, names are exchanged, and we learn that the woman's name is Kayla..

Then the next day she runs into him at the gym where she's crunching numbers for the owner..

Looking down towards the far end of the gym, she notices two men sparring in the ring, beating the shit out of each other..
She's basically standing there with her mouth hanging open imagining what the younger one would look like in a state of undress, which turns out to be Dyson, who after getting out of the ring proceeds to ask her to a fight that's coming up..

Without giving too much away about the story, this is where it starts to pick up, we learn about Kayla's back ground and why Dyson was discharged from the Marines, his fights and where their future lies whether together or apart you'll need to read the story to find that out..

An enjoyable read..

Binary Law (Boston #1) by M.H. Grace

Binary Law - M.H. Grace

Ellie Andrews has been receiving tutoring from Blake McCarthy for three years to help her improve her grades so she can get into one of the top universities to study law. And she’s had a huge crush on him since she can remember.

Blake McCarthy is the geek at school that’s had a crush on Ellie since the day he met her.

In their final tutoring session, Blake and Ellie finally become brave enough to take the leap of faith.
But, life has other plans and rips them apart.

Six years later Blake and his best friends Ben and Billy have built a successful internet platform company 3BCubed, while Ellie is a successful and hardworking lawyer specialising in Corporate Law.
3BCubed is being threatened with a devastatingly large plagiarism case and when it lands on their lawyers desk, it’s handed to the new Corporate Lawyer to handle and win.

Coincidence or perhaps fate will see Blake and Ellie pushed back together.

Binary Law will have Blake and Ellie propelled into a life that’s a whirl wind of catastrophic events and situations where every emotion will be touched. Hurt will be experienced, happiness will be presented and love will be evident. But is that enough for Blake and Ellie be able to live out their own happily ever after?

Took me a while to get into the story, some places there was a use of over wording and made it really hard for me to connect with the story in the beginning, it wasn't until about 20% in that I actually started to enjoy it, the story line picked up more and flowed better..

So we first meet Blake (the computer geek) who is running late for his last tutoring lesson with Ellie, both have been attracted to each other for years but neither of them have taken that step in admitting their attraction..

"And yes Blake really does come across like a computer geek." If he's not tripping over his shoe laces, or wearing the geeky clothes, to top those things he stumbles over his words when he's around Ellie..

Life has a way of stepping in and this is the last time these two will see each other until 6 years down the track..

Ellie had just disappeared off the face of the earth, no phone call, no word, nothing, just gone!!

So here we are 6 years later, Ellie has just broken up with her long term over bearing boyfriend and takes a job in Boston.

She's called up by her new associates stating that one of their biggest clients has been threatened with a plagiarism case..You need to meet with the three directors at 9.00am, the company is "3BCuBed".

So imagine Ellie's surprise there she was sitting patiently chatting to the two directors waiting for the meeting to commence with these two men and the one that seems to be running late makes his appearance, and it's none other than "Blake"

Gone is the geeky computer guy and in his place is a new and improved man..

I could just imagine Ellie standing there with her mouth wide open hanging to the floor..

His hair is no longer shoulder length, it's short as in nearly buzz cut short, his round glasses have been replaced with black square rims, and his frame is no longer that of a seventeen year old boy in his place is a confident sexy twenty three year old man..

This was the turning point for me in the story, at this point it started picking up and became a really enjoyable read..This book wasn't just your normal romance story and that's what made this book unique..

I enjoyed the banter between these two, the re-connection, the love these two felt for each other that hadn't dwindled when they were apart, he used words that could make you swoon..Just beautifully worded..

Eraser by Megan Keith

Eraser - Megan Keith

A man with no name.

Mysterious.

Dangerous.

Brooding.

Sexy.

Once a week he frequents the bar where Mackenzie works. He orders the same drink, scotch on the rocks, and he sits back on the same lounge chair, quietly watching… waiting…

He has money - that much is obvious. He wears his tailored suits well. He smells divine, of expensive cologne, and orders his scotch from the top shelf.

He drinks alone, but he never leaves that way. With a snap of his fingers, a flick of his eyes, a glimmer of a smile, he gets the attention of the most attractive women in the bar.

This time his focus is on Mackenzie. Instead of feeling nervous Mackenzie is enthralled, intrigued… and aroused.

First of all I've just got to say it!!

And it didn't get any better for me as the story went along

I don't know if it was the story or just me, as I usually tend to gravitate towards "Dark, Gritty reads" this just didn't pull me in, so please take my rating with a grain of salt..

Ok here goes, I've just finished this book so my thoughts are still in turmoil, and for an honest review I have to just get what is going through my mind out..

This book was so fucked (and I apologize if this offends anyone) up on more levels than one, like a gun firing off shots one after another in quick succession this is what it was like reading this book, so many things were going on, boom boom boom one jolt after another!!

I love my dark, gritty reads but seriously those other books have nothing on this book, times I just wanted to turn off the kindle and stop that roller coaster of a ride, but like a corporal punishment I had to keep reading..

I loved Sammy, but I did despise him at the beginning of the book only because I didn't understand why he walked away all those years ago, once your fed that information I totally understood why he left..Did I condone his decision, probably not, but then this book wouldn't be half as good if he had stayed and fought for her..

This train wreck all started on River's sixteenth birthday, which is right in your face from page one, and I will admit it did choke me up a bit, that's how raw, gritty and emotional this book is..

I had pieces saved out of this book that I had written down that I was going to share in my review but I feel just saying what's going though my mind is enough to convey how good this book is..Also a very hard book to recommend due to all the nasty disturbing situations brought to the core in this book, so go in prepared that this isn't a read for the light hearted, it packs a huge punch..

And just a warning if that wasn't a bugger of a cliff hanger I don't know what is!!

My Sweet Escape (Touched by an Angel #1) by Roselynn Reyes

My Sweet Escape (Touched by an Angel, #1) - Roselynn Reyes

This is a story of a girl who had it all. Money, opportunity, and bright future with her upcoming college graduation. Until a trip overseas shattered it all.

This is the story of a man who has nothing to lose, and puts his life on the line everyday to feel something in his numb soul. A soul that has been destroyed because of his past. Until he meets her.

Together they embark a journey that will test their faith, sanity, and control over everything they thought they had in order. But not everything in life is what it seems.

Sometimes you need to sacrifice a few things to realize how important life is. Even if it means losing the people you love.

62 days. That’s how long Samantha has been missing.

A trip to Italy has gone wrong and Samantha is being held captive by terrorists in Afghanistan. Hunter is missing. Samantha thinks that her life is over.

Until Angel walks into her shack. He’s perfect in every way imaginable. He helps her escape when Samantha loses hope.

But both Samantha and Angel are about to realize that escaping the campsite was the easy part. Because this kidnapping is about to spiral out of control.

A hot alpha male, A one man mission, Terrorist attacks, Survival, Love, On the run, hard core action..

You name it this book had it all, kept me sitting on the edge of my seat the whole way through..This book was raw, gritty, and all those things that had me wanting more!!

It pretty much gets in your face from from the start, it was similar to Jake Wilder's book "The Missionary" A one man mission to save a female being held captive, this story wasn't about slavery though so that's where it was different..

First off we meet Samantha: Bound to a chair, in intense pain caused by the chains scraping the skin off her wrists which are tied to the back of her chair, her feet are sore and severely swollen..

Her body is getting weaker and weaker with every minute/second that passed,

A dirty rag in her mouth..There are bruises all over her face and body, she has been raped numerous times,  deep bite marks on her torso, a bruise on her neck where they tried to choke her with an electric cord, and her back has been slashed to pieces with a whip, just for their entertainment..She has a few infections due to sitting in her own blood and feces..

No Memory of how she got within these four walls

No memory of her name, her age, where she came from

Then she hears an "Angel" in the darkness whisper a name "Samantha" she hears a man say with an American accent..

His skin was fair, translucent, and completely clear from any scars or marks to mar his beautiful complexion, his bone structure was absolutely magnificent with a straight nose, high cheek bones, perfect strong jaw line, but his best feature were his eyes..They are the most piercing blue eyes she had seen..With his face and body he could've been an actor or an underwear model from what Samantha could make out of his body under his combat uniform..

"My name is Angel, I work for a secret rescue group, I'm here on behalf of your father."

I felt like I was in a daze, I felt like I was dead, and he was the Angel to take me away from this horror to Heaven.

"Everyone thought this was a suicide mission, everyone backed out, the whole team, I was the only one willing to do this, you've been missing for 62 days"..

Just one man, aged 24 was prepared to go on this suicide mission to bring Samantha back home in one piece..

Angel is a man of few words but you still get a feel for his character, kind of made me think Sylvester Stallone in his first few films..

Will definitely be keeping an eye out for the next book in this series..

SPOILER ALERT!

Making Faces By Amy Harmon

Making Faces - Amy Harmon

Ambrose Young was beautiful. He was tall and muscular, with hair that touched his shoulders and eyes that burned right through you. The kind of beautiful that graced the covers of romance novels, and Fern Taylor would know. She'd been reading them since she was thirteen. But maybe because he was so beautiful he was never someone Fern thought she could have...until he wasn't beautiful anymore.

Making Faces is the story of a small town where five young men go off to war, and only one comes back. It is the story of loss. Collective loss, individual loss, loss of beauty, loss of life, loss of identity. It is the tale of one girl's love for a broken boy, and a wounded warrior's love for an unremarkable girl. This is a story of friendship that overcomes heartache, heroism that defies the common definitions, and a modern tale of Beauty and the Beast, where we discover that there is a little beauty and a little beast in all of us.

Ambrose Young was a Senior and according to Fern he looked like one of those guys that graced the cover of a romance novel, you know the books the ones with the Alpha males, tight abs, smoldering looks, happily ever afters, those are the kind of books Fern devoured and imagined Ambrose as the male characters..

To Fern, Ambrose was absolutely beautiful, a Greek god among mortals, and stuff fairy tales and movies are made of..

He had dark wavy hair that brushed his shoulders which he would occasionally sweep back so it wouldn’t fall into his heavily lashed brown eyes, six foot, 215 pounds and had a body corded with muscles, he looked like an underwear model..

AMBROSE:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It was Ambrose’s ability on the mat (wrestling) that made him a celebrity in their little town.

Behind Fern’s thick glasses, small and pale splattered in freckles, with bright red hair, protruding teeth who had a likeness to the character “Pippy long stockings” she knew she was the kind of girl that was easily overlooked and knew she would never get the attention of the god like Hercules, Ambrose..

"When god made faces did he laugh when he made me?"

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Sometimes we fall in love with a face and not what’s behind it..

She had loved Ambrose from the age of 10, over a spider whom Ambrose squashed which she ended up naming “Beautiful Spider” when they buried him..

Ambrose knew he wanted more than to “Wrestle” it wasn’t until an army recruiter came to his school that, that was his escape, along with four of his most closest friends..
The last night before recruitment Ambrose was just discovering that he might in fact have feelings for Fern.
5 boys brave left for war and only one came back, he didn’t come back how he left but he did come back, Fern grieved for the boy she had always loved, she wondered how it would feel to once be beautiful and then in an instance have it taken away, life had given Ambrose another face..

One ear gone, loss of eye sight in his right eye, a long thick scar ran from the corner of his mouth and up the side of his mouth, his right eye was glassy and fixed, and a scar ran vertically through his eyelid, extending above his eye through his eye brow and below his eye in a straight line with his nose, intersecting that started at the corner of his mouth.
FERN:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Gone was Fern’s “Pippy Long stockings” appearance with hair that hung in long curls half way down her back, and she no longer wore those thick glasses and straight white teeth, her eyes were a deep, soft brown with a sprinkling of freckles speckled across her small nose..She grew up thinking she was ugly..*UGS* “Ugly Girl Syndrome” At some point between awkwardness and adulthood she had grown appealing..

“Everything has changed, you are beautiful and I am hideous”

Please whatever you do read this book, it is truly touching, memorable, and inspiring, if you are like me you will devour this books..

Jake Undone By Penelope Ward

Jake Undone - Penelope Ward

Nina Kennedy was alive…but not living…until she met him.

Planes, trains, heights…you name it, Nina was afraid of it and led a sheltered life ruled by irrational fears and phobias. When she moves to Brooklyn for nursing school, that life is turned upside down, as she develops an intense but unwanted attraction to her gorgeous roommate, who’s pierced, tattooed and just happens to be the smartest person she’s ever met.

Behind Jake Green’s rough exterior and devilish smile, lies a heart of gold. He makes it his mission to change Nina’s outlook on life. When he agrees to tutor her, they forge a bet and the stakes are high as Jake forces Nina to face her demons. He just wasn’t expecting to fall hard for her in the process.

What Nina doesn’t realize, is that Jake has been living his own private hell. Once he drops a bombshell, will their love survive it?

Told in two parts from both Nina and Jake’s points of view, Jake Undone is a standalone story and a companion to the novel, Gemini.

Meet Your Next Book Boyfriend Jake And Come Undone!!

The beginning of this book kind of confused me, first we encounter Jake running late for an exam, then he sees an attractive girl spinning round and round in the rain who he estimated her to be in her mid-teens, Walks over to her, introduces himself, she says her name and then the books skips to "Six Years Later" it's probably not until you hit over half way that it all becomes clear..

So we're six years later and we're introduced to Nina who will be co-sharing an apartment with 3 others, one is her childhood friend Ryan..One of his roommates had recently moved out so it was perfect for her and close to her classes..

Meet Troll aka Nina

Nina has a few hang ups to say the least, which stems back to a childhood incident, what you'd term irrational fears which had started to take over her life, to the point where she wouldn't leave the house..

e.g. For instance instead of taking a plane she'll take the bus, or the stairs instead of the elevator etc etc

Then we're given the pleasure of meeting Jake, I can honestly say I came undone!! Hot damn!!In Nina's words he was freaking beautiful!!

He had a brow ring, and a bottom lip ring, green eyes, and short dark hair, he was like a black cat - gorgeous but very likely bad luck if it crossed your path..

JAKE:

We learn that Nina fails dismally at maths and has to seek help from Jake who jumps at the chance to tutor her, this is where it starts to pick up and becomes interesting..

Jake also comes up with a genius master plan that if she gets below an "A" then there will be consequences in the form of facing her fears head on, one fear at a time..

There were so many elements to this story, and it just showed with a little patience and a lot of love you can work through anything..Loved this book!!

Did I say before that I loved Jake?? If you read this, take note of "Bats" Yep I said :"Bats" and I'm not going to say any more on the subject, guess you'll have to read it to understand what I mean!! But this is when I claimed Jake as my book boyfriend..

In the beginning we meet seventeen year old Abby on the day of her graduation, she has survived one of the most brutal childhoods imaginable, her so called parents were drug users and treated her worse than the scum of the earth, so she doesn’t know what it’s like to be cared for or loved, until she moves in with her Nan..

Sadly on the same day of Abby’s graduation her Nan dies in an explosion of a known meth lab, which leaves Abby to defend for herself, eviction, homeless, ward of the state..

“I would run before they came for me, I would never go back to that fucking system, paid childcare without the care”

Homeless, and sleeping in a junkyard, and on the run from a system that has failed her over and over again, she meets Jake, a tattooed blue-eyed biker with secrets that will rival her own..

Jake’s brother drowned in a boating accident and shortly after that his mother took her own life..Jake’s father always blamed Jake for both deaths..

MY REVIEW: By Kat Fenton

Gianna on the outside had everything going for her, she was beautiful, a cheerleader, and one of the most popular females at her school who was dating Josh (The Jock)..Everyone wanted a piece of her..

My home life and my school life made me miserable

People were always telling me how lucky I was to be so beautiful, Lucky to be doing so well in school, Lucky to be dating Josh..

But that was all on the outside, what they didn’t know was that Gianna wasn’t living, she was suffocating in the life her mother wanted for her..

That all changed when Caleb moved in with them..

Gianna’s first encounter with Caleb:

Walking into the dining room, my eyes instantly fall on one of the most hottest guys I’d ever seen, he had black hair, almost long enough to fall into his hazel eyes, with a piercing in his eyebrow, wearing a blank tank top that showed off his muscular arms, straight jeans hanging on his hips and retro vans..

“Nice to meet you, sis,” he says with a chuckle. I feel his warm breath on my ear as he adds in a whisper for my ears only, “Wanna sleep in my bed tonight?”

She was so freaking hot, and beautiful, but I had to remember that she was off limits, if I hurt her the fall out would be epic..

A juvenile delinquent, who got expelled from two different schools, with a bad reputation with the girls..

At first I thought Caleb was a conceited man whore, only looking out for himself and didn’t care who he hurt or walked over in the process, which gave him a bad reputation, but as the story goes along you see a softer side to Caleb appear and you can’t help but like him..

“She was so damn beautiful, And funny, And smart, And hot..Oh crap I was in trouble..I was so damn pussy whipped!!”

This story surprised me, I thought we’d be learning of a deep dark secret that

Gianna was hiding from the world, but that’s not the case, and that’s what made me enjoy this story so much more than I thought I would..

A light humerus easy read..Loved the banter between these two at the beginning of the book..Will definitely be keeping an eye out for book 2..

Maybe This Time (Maybe #1) By Chantel Fernando

Maybe This Time - Chantal Fernando

Moving in with my half-brother Xander, I had no idea what to expect.
But nothing could have prepared me for this.
My brother’s friends are wild, protective, secretive, always around.
And drop dead gorgeous.
Out of all of them, there’s something about Reid Knox.
Brooding, temperamental, guarded…
And I want him more than anything I have ever wanted in my life.

MY REVIEW: By Kat Fenton

(SUMMER)

A sassy mouthed,  brown eyed bombshell with pouting lips, huge tits and a tiny waist and hips that flare out..Who Reid would conveniently calls "Beauty"..

(REID)

Blond haired gorgeous bright blue eyes and a killer body with a scar down the right side of his cheek, which kind of added to his appeal..His hair is shaved on both sides, with it being longer on the top..

From the get go you could see the attraction between that drop dead gorgeous *twin* Reid and Summer..

During the book, Reid definitely lived up to his name, he was a cave man temperamental SOA at times, but oh so hot..He kind of gave me whip lash, one minute he wanted her, then the next he was pushing her away, but like a doormat she allowed him to get away with some of his cave man tendencies..

But it still makes for a compelling read..

Some of the scenes were hot!! This book had a lot of elements going for it!! I just wanted more focus on the illegal underground fighting, more grit, and I felt like the ending kind of fell a wee bit flat and rushed fro my liking..But I still enjoyed the story..Nothing too heavy..

For me though it’s the hot alpha males that made this book!! Oh and I can’t end this review without some knowledge of that cover IT’S HOT!!

My REVIEW: By Kat Fenton

This book kicked ass!! It had everything in a book I could ever wish for, sit on the edge of your seat moments of complete and utter panic of trying to read faster to see if they were going to escape their terror..

It was dark, it was gritty but so damn hard to put down!! I loved the intensity of it!! One minute my heart would be breaking reading what Wren had to endure, to other moments of falling in love with all things alpha Ex-Navy SEAL Stone”

From page One, Wrens captivity is in your face, it’s heartbreakingly raw!!

Waking up in the darkness, pure terror, knowing that to fight was futile, in irons, punches to the face, the ribs, in horrific pain..

A jab to the bicep..A sense of floating..Sluggish..Foreboding..Darkness..

“MY NAME IS WREN MORGAN” She focused on that, it was all she knew, all she had, before darkness pulled her down and under..

This book wasn’t sugar coated and not for the faint hearted, it gives you a true sense of what goes on in the sex trafficking underground corrupt organizations..Highly recommend..A truly emotional read which pulls you in, I can honestly say since reading this I have hit a book funk..Anyone who stood/sat still long enough I recommended this book to!! Don’t just take my word for it, prove me wrong by buying a copy and reading it..

My REVIEW: By Kat Fenton

A mistake made long ago…

Just one mistake is all it took..

She was nearly twice the legal limit, she won’t be leaving the hospital without handcuffs, and ten years in prison, six with good behavior..

Daren hated Baily with a vengeance, he was a ghost of a man to what he used to be.. Six years ago he didn’t just lose one person that day he lost two and himself in the process..

Hatred was a one way street with them, it flowed freely from him to her..

Could he ever find it within himself to forgive the one person he loved most in life, his childhood friend..

How could you love someone so much but at the same time want to destroy them..

Two childhood friends ripped apart..

God where to start with this book, I basically went in blind not thinking I would encounter a roller coaster of emotions along the way, this book opened up my heart and ripped it to shreds, few times I had to turn off the kindle and just breathe and walk away and come back to it..A truly touching emotional story..Such conflicting emotions run through you whilst reading this, I don’t generally cry at the drop of a hat but this bugga of a story had me blubbering like a baby..

Beautifully written which captures your heart along the way..

Never Let Go By Scarlett Edwards

Never Let Go - Scarlett Edwards

Inspired by true events…

The first day of college gives every girl a chance to reinvent herself.

I go and screw mine up by meeting the most gorgeous guy I’ve seen in five years while talking to my cat.

But Andrew Crowner is far from judgmental. By the end of our interaction, he has me smitten by his easy manner and kind smile. And from the way his eyes linger on me before he leaves, I start to think that maybe I’ve caught his attention, too.

I let myself believe that luck may finally be on my side. That is, until I stumble on my roommate, and her overnight guest: Spencer Ashford.

Lean, tattooed, and sexy as sin, Spencer is exactly the type I need to avoid. I would have no trouble with that… were it not for his swift and inexplicable interest in me.

Suddenly, I go from a girl with next-to-no experience with boys to one caught in the crosshairs of two completely different men.

Andrew’s interest is wholesome and sweet. Spencer’s is edgy and raw. My choice should be easy. But there are always complications, and sometimes, matters of the heart take the least expected turns.

MY Review: By Kat Fenton

First of all I was recommended this book by a friend on Goodreads, I never really read the blurb that cover was prompting me to read it, yes hello my name is Kat and I am a cover hoe!!

                                                      PAIGE:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

We first meet sweet and innocent Paige her first day of college talking to her tabby cat "Pickles," by Andrew who had to be the first guy she meets, imagine how mortifying that would be "Shame" and as she's turning around she's praying over and over in her head that he is hideous. horrifyingly, mind numbingly deformed,

"Please, please, please just have one discernible flaw."

but the guy she encounters looks like he should have his face plastered all over a fashion magazine..He's hot!!

Moving things into her dorm which she's to share with three other girls, who will arrive the next day, she's ripped from her thoughts when she realizes she's not exactly alone as she thought, her eyes zone in on a nude couple going at it on the lower bunk..

(Meet Spencer: Lean, tattooed, and sexy as sin)

The guy has dark long straight hair which slightly covers his eyes, a sleek tribal tattoo decorates his shoulders and upper back..

And this is where things start to get interesting..Both guys vie for Paige's affections..One has a rep as long as his arm and the other can't fraternize with students..

Paige hasn't really had alot of experience where the opposite sex stands, as she was schooled in an all girls educational environment..

She promises to wait for one guy but the other steals her heart

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Without giving away the story, I’m glad she chose who she did, he was my first pick and as the story went along that never changed..

An enjoyable read about a girl just trying to find herself, to experience all that college life has to offer..

Don't make me Beautiful

Don't Make Me Beautiful - Elle Casey

A ROMANTIC SUSPENSE NOVEL. No one knew a woman lived there or that she even existed. A monster, living in darkness...

At twenty-two, Nicole doesn't even look human anymore. The beast made sure of that. So she hides. A monster, consigned to a life of fear and solitude. This is all she deserves, she is quite sure of that.

And then one day out of the blue, the autographed baseball caught by Brian Jensen at the latest Marlins game enters her prison and manages to turn her world completely upside down.

Temptation comes in the form of pity at first, and then perhaps something more. Does she dare to believe the things she's told, that this is not the life she was meant to live? That being a monster is not her forever-fate? And will she be willing to risk everything, to reach out and accept the helping hands around her and share her deepest, darkest secrets? She knows only too well that hands can hurt. Finding out whether they can also heal is a risky proposition, especially when the beast is still out there. Looking for her.

MY REVIEW: By Kat Fenton

A MONSTER LIVING IN THE DARK

At the age of twenty two Nicole doesn’t even look human anymore..A monster, consigned to a life of fear and solitude..This story was inspired by true events

And that’s when it became real for me..Gut wrenching, heart breaking raw story of domestic violence, times I had to stop reading and read something light because it just broke my heart..Imagine the solitude, day in day out, not going outside because of the way you looked..Thinking you deserved this life dished out to you because you fell in love with the wrong man..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This book opened up my heart and ripped it to shreds, made me think what would I do if I was in that same situation, with no one to turn to, no family, no money, nothing..

Ice green eyes are the only thing left of Nicole’s beauty, the rest has been taken, beating by beating, week by week, year by year..Who she used to be has been erased, leaving a monster behind..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Her bones have been broken so many times and set in weird shapes, that her nose now is non existent, which makes it hard to breathe, her cheek bones don’t match one another, one of them having been slammed into the coffee table several times a few months back..Her left ear now resembles a small head of caulk-flower, miss-shapen, large, lumpy and permanently swollen..Her lips have been split too many times for her to remember, scarred and swollen, her jaw has been broken three times and is no longer aligned, several of her teeth have gone, the rest will be gone soon too..

This book made me love my partner even more, not once has he ever raised his fist at me, his voice, lost his temper towards me, and for all that I am very lucky..
